The Rice Space Institute proudly announces the Bold Frontiers Initiative to commemorate the legacy of President John F. Kennedy’s “To the Moon” speech. The initiative will celebrate this famous speech, presented at Rice University on September 12, 1962, by highlighting the strength, vitality, and diversity of Houston and its continuing and future involvement in space exploration.
The initiative will reiterate and reaffirm President Kennedy’s message on the importance of education, research, and technology in creating future success and prosperity, as well as the belief that diversity is a fundamental part of attaining that goal. Bold Frontiers will bring together NASA, HISD, Rice University and the City of Houston in a series of activities that engage the Houston community in the celebration of space: both its history and its future.
